Safestore launches new TV ad campaign

Safestore has launched its first ever TV advertising campaign in an attempt to boost public awareness of the company.

The Safestore advert, which will appear in both a 60-second version and a truncated 30-second version, features a young boy making an epic speech to the camera before the backdrop of a fearsome storm, in which he tells the person out of shot whom he is addressing that – even though he is going away – they are going to be safe “under lock and key, steel and concrete”, while he promises he will return to reclaim them.

The camera then pans around to reveal that he was actually speaking to a favourite teddy bear, who is seen being wheeled in to a Safestore self storage unit on the back of a trolley full of children’s toys.

The advert was produced for Safestore by the Integrated Advertising and Marketing Agency, a London-based ad firm who won the Safestore advertising contract last April.

Dave Cox, the Head of Sales and Marketing at Safestore, was quoted saying how pleased he was with the finished advert:

“The campaign marks the end of a year of development for Safestore in terms of its brand and digital channels, but the start of an exciting time in terms building consumer awareness and demand.

“The execution reflects the brilliance of the agency and the director involved, it’s a first for Safestore and the industry as a whole.”

The Safestore TV advert, which bears the official title “I Will Return”, is part of the company’s major new advertising strategy called “Safestore The Things You Love”, which will be launched across TV, digital and social media channels this year as the company looks to raise its public profile.

Big Yellow “Tide”

Safestore isn’t the first UK self storage company to invest in a TV advertising campaign, as Big Yellow had previously beaten them to it with their notable 2008 advert called “Tide”, which depicted a tidal wave of domestic possessions being washed into a self storage unit.

As public awareness of self storage grows throughout the UK, expect more self storage firms to invest in TV advertising.
