Access Self Storage launches Christmas Toy Appeal

Access Self Storage, one of the UK’s largest self storage providers, has launched its 2012 Christmas Toy Appeal in aid of The Children’s Society.

Old toys wanted

In order to take part, members of the public need to hand in any NEW or UNUSED toys and games to their nearest branch of Access Self Storage. You can find your nearest Access Self Storage facility using their online branch finder:

All Access Self Storage facilities will have a dedicated collection point set up inside, where you can leave whatever you want to donate. All donated toys and games will then be sorted and stored by Access until they are transported to The Children’s Society network of charity shops, where they will be sold to help further the charity’s valuable work.

The Children’s Society

Founded in 1881, The Children’s Society works to give struggling children a better life, particularly by providing support and assistance to children who are in care, runaways, disabled children, child asylum seekers and young carers.

The charity was founded by Edward Rudolf, who was working as a Sunday school teacher in South London at the time. When he noticed that two young boys were missing from one of his weekly classes, he went looking for them and was horrified to discover they’d had to miss his class because they needed to support their family through begging for food, as their father had died and left their mother with seven children to bring up, all of whom were under eleven years old.

Originally affiliated with the Anglican Church, Edward Rudolf managed to establish a network of 113 children’s homes throughout England and Wales by 1919. Although things have changed since Victorian and Edwardian times so that the state now does much more to help vulnerable young children, The Children’s Society still continues its mission to ensure children get as much help as they need whenever they are disadvantaged or at risk.

Positive media coverage

The Access Self Storage Christmas Toy Appeal has already gained a significant amount of positive media coverage, which should help them to attract more donations.

Favourable articles have already mentioned the appeal in The Portsmouth News:

Hopefully as many people as possible will donate to this excellent cause, so that The Children’s Society can continue providing vulnerable children with the help and support that they need.

  1. Self storage is a necessary need for many people these days. They are families who live in small homes or apartments, those moving to a new home and want to store their goods.

  2. The motive of self storage is to safely place your belongings in a safe location. It is used by families which have too many material goods to fit in their home.
